About

History

For 55 years, Mohawk Electrical Systems, Inc. has been supplying OEM manufacturers with high quality, reliable, integrated assemblies that add value to products and simplify the design-to-production process.

Mohawk Electrical Systems, Inc was founded by Clarence and Stephen Welch in 1963. In 1988, current president Scott Welch joined the company and became the third-generation owner in 2006.

Operating from a 24,000 square foot facility, Mohawk is an ISO9001:2015 registered small business. Mohawk is a premier assembly integrator for large and small companies servicing the defense, oil and gas, pyrotechnic, instrumentation and mining industries.

Over the years, Mohawk has built a reputation for the superior quality and reliability of detonator assemblies used in Claymore Weapon Systems, a major segment of Mohawk’s business. The bridgewire technology used in the Claymore product has been adapted for commercial electro-explosive devices (EED), a rapidly expanding business segment.

By utilizing in-house manufacturing competencies and developing a network of quality component/vendors, Mohawk is positioned to buy components and integrate them into easy-to-install assemblies. This ability to take single source responsibility for subassembly projects has helped shrink capacity restraints and reduce lead times, inventory, and admin costs for a growing number of small and large domestic and international customers including:
