Mohawk partnering with Del-Tech manufacturing program

By: Jeff Winslow – April 12, 2017

MILFORD, Del. – This summer, Mohawk Electrical Systems, Inc. will be partnering with Delaware Technical and Community College in hosting one of their high school students enrolled in the Advanced Manufacturing Pathway. One student will be granted a paid internship through the summer months and learn Mohawk’s operations and manufacturing protocol. This gives high school students exposure to the workforce developing soft skills, as well as introducing them to the world of manufacturing.

The pathway program is in its first year at the Del-Tech campus in Dover, Del., where 14 students are currently enrolled. The current students are in their junior year of high school and learning practical manufacturing protocol as well as becoming certified in OSHA compliance and learning different types of assembly skills.

Dr. Lisa Strusowski, director of workforce development at Del-Tech, is excited about the new partnership with Mohawk. ” We’d like to thank Mohawk for supporting our Delaware Tech HS Manufacturing program and students…we look forward to working with [Mohawk] on this and many other partnership opportunities,” said Dr. Strusowski.

The students benefit from taking this pathways in many ways. They receive college credit while in high school and get real-world, hands-on job experience to add to their resumes.

Mohawk is excited to host a student this summer. If a student who is enrolled in the Advanced Manufacturing Pathway at any Del-Tech campus across the state is interested, please feel free to apply to our internship opening on our career webpage.
